Report: Minister says Russia to only boost grain gravest
MOSCOW, Dec 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s future grain harvest may only be higher than in 2017, but never lower, Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachyov said in an interview to Rossiya 24 television channel broadcast on Wednesday.
“The weather and government support of regions are consistent. We simply have to have achievements by the volume of grain production, I think. The threshold has been set up high, and it will be difficult for us, but I think that we have powers and capabilities to repeat the record, and to increase it in the future,” he said.
Previously, Tkachyov said that Russia will harvest more than 130 million tonnes of grain in 2017, up from the country’s historical record of 127.4 million tonnes set in 1978. In 2016, Russia harvested 120.7 million tonnes of grain in net weight.
